背景

NADP-dependent malic enzyme, mitochondrial (ME3) is a ~67 kDa protein. Catalyzes the oxidative decarboxylation of (S)-malate to pyruvate using NADP(+) as a cofactor. Can also reverse the decarboxylation reaction, but only with significantly lower efficiency.
