背景

Myeloid cell surface antigen CD33 is a ~44 kDa protein. Sialic-acid-binding immunoglobulin-like lectin (Siglec) that plays a role in mediating cell-cell interactions and in maintaining immune cells in a resting state. Preferentially binds sialic acid to the short O-linked glycans of certain mucins. CD33 is the therapeutic target of gemtuzumab ozogamicin (Mylotarg).
