This product is an unconjugated, non-therapeutic recombinant analog of the anti-cancer antibody ibentatug, built around ibentatug's target, cancer-specific plectin (CSP, also written cell-surface plectin-1). It is a humanized IgG1/kappa immunoglobulin supplied for research use only; it is not the clinical drug and is not for human or veterinary use. Because it reproduces the antigen-binding specificity of the originator without a payload, it is useful as a tool reagent: a defined-specificity positive/isotype-matched control, a binding and epitope-characterization reagent, a benchmarking standard against other anti-plectin binders, and an unconjugated backbone for in-house ADC, bispecific, or labeling development and neutralization/functional assays. It is offered at research grade with low endotoxin (typically <1 EU/mg, with an ultra-low <0.5 EU/mg option) and in bulk milligram-to-gram quantities suitable for assay development, in-vitro screening, and preclinical characterization work. No clone identity is implied, and lots are intended for method development and biosimilar characterization rather than clinical application. Buyers should confirm target/format fit for their assay. Plectin (gene PLEC) is a large ~500 kDa cytolinker of the plakin family that normally resides intracellularly, cross-linking intermediate filaments, actin, and microtubules and anchoring them at hemidesmosomes and focal adhesions to maintain cytoskeletal integrity and mechanical resilience. In many carcinomas—including pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma and ovarian, esophageal, and head-and-neck cancers—plectin is aberrantly mislocalized to the cell surface, a cancer-restricted form termed cancer-specific plectin (CSP) or cell-surface plectin-1. This surface exposure is largely absent from normal tissue, giving CSP high tumor selectivity and making it an attractive antibody and imaging target. Cell-surface plectin contributes to proliferation, adhesion, migration, invasion, and signal transduction, and correlates with poor prognosis, supporting its use as both a biomarker and a therapeutic target.
