CD22 (Siglec-2, UniProt P20273) is a member of the sialic-acid-binding immunoglobulin-like lectin (Siglec) family and functions as a B-cell-restricted inhibitory co-receptor. It is a type I transmembrane glycoprotein whose extracellular domains recognise alpha-2,6-linked sialic acid ligands, mediating both homotypic and cis interactions that regulate B-cell receptor (BCR) signalling thresholds.
