背景

ORF7a protein (Protein U122) is a ~13 kDa protein. Plays a role as antagonist of host tetherin (BST2), disrupting its antiviral effect. Acts by binding to BST2 and sequestering it to perinuclear region, thereby preventing its antiviral function at cell membrane. May specifically downregulate MHC-I allele HLA-A*02:01 (HLA-A2).
